Edinburgh starters during 6 Nations

Congratulations to all the Edinburgh players selected for the Scotland squad for the forthcoming Six Nations. Good luck to you all with a special mention for Dave Cherry who may make his Scotland debut.

If you’ve looked at my calendar or even Edinburgh rugby’s own calendar you’ll see that we have only 1 game (V Dragons on 12/2/21) actually scheduled beyond Zebre this coming Saturday.

That game and any others still to be scheduled in the PRO14 or Champions Cup after Zebre on 21/1/21 and before 27/3/21 when the PRO14 final is pencilled in for will be whilst the Six nations is ongoing. It is highly likely that similarly to the Autumn Nations all the players in the squad will have to remain in that squad bubble until that time and even if not required for a matchday squad won't be released back to Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Your Edinburgh 15 and alternates in that window is likely to be as follows -

I’ve tried to take account of known long term injuries but I  am in the dark about who is nearing recovery. In that long term list  we have Taylor, Carmichael, McCallum, McKenzie and Gordon.

I expect the alternate full back option to be Blain if Hoyland isn’t nearing recovery as alluded to in the Scotsman.

Just a quick run through. Thoughts?
