Edinburgh in Europe: the facts

Edinburgh are in the quarter final of the Challenge Cup 2021-2022.

Some facts for you.

We've reached the knockout phases of this specific tournament 4 times including in 2014 when we lost to Gloucester in the final.

We’ve never won a European competition of any stripe.

We have competed in the Challenge Cup on 5 occasions and only on one of those occasions have failed to make the knockout stages. That was in 2014-2015  when despite winning 4 of our 6 group games we only managed third in the group.

In all European competition we have a 49.7% win ratio. In the Challenge cup that ratio rises to 72.5%.

The last time we won a knockout tie in Europe before last week was against Dragons in April 2015 in the semi final of the Challenge Cup.

Emiliano Boffelli is the top scorer in this year's tournament.

Grant Gilchrist is the top tackler in this year's tournament.

The top 3 tacklers are all Edinburgh men. Sykes in 2nd and Schoeman in 3rd.

Edinburgh have scored more tries (28) and points (202) than any other team in this years tournament. They also have the most tackles (676).

Edinburgh are unbeaten at DAM Health in all competitions.

Our ¼ final opponent's Wasps dropped into the Challenge cup after finishing 10th in pool B of the Champions Cup. They won only 1 game in that pool.

Wasps beat Biarritz in France to reach this stage of the Challenge Cup.

Former Edinburgh player Elliott Millar-Mills was on the bench for Wasps against Biarritz and current Edinburgh Academy man Partick Harrison spent a period on loan at Wasps earlier this season.

If Edinburgh beat Wasps then our semi final opponent's will either be Lyon or Glasgow.

If it's Lyon the game will be away. If it's Glasgow then we will be at home.
